Recording a Book

Students can record themselves reading a book.

To record on a browser:

  1. Open the read version of the book.

  2. Click the microphone icon to reveal the recording controls.

  3. Click or tap the Record button to record for up to 15 minutes. The recording will stop automatically at 15 minutes.

    • Your browser may prompt you to give permission; please choose Allow.

  4. Click the pause or stop button to pause or stop recording.

    • If stop is clicked during recording, click record again to resume recording. Click new to start recording again from the beginning, which erases what has already been recorded.

    • If stop is clicked during the playback of a recording, click the play button to resume listening from the beginning. The play button is disabled until after recording has begun.

  5. Click Done at the end of the book to send the recording to the teacher.

    • A recording must be at least 30 seconds long for it to appear in the teacher’s In Basket and for the student to earn stars.

Having trouble recording on a browser?

To record on the Kids A-Z mobile app:

  1. Open the read version of the book.

  2. Tap the microphone icon. The app will begin recording immediately.

  3. After tapping the record button, the student can record for up to 15 minutes. The recording will stop automatically at 15 minutes.

    • On Apple devices, tap the pause icon to pause the recording and tap again to resume recording.

  4. Tap the stop button to stop recording.

    • Tap the play icon to listen to what you have recorded.

    • Tap the trash can icon to discard and start recording again from the beginning, which erases what as already been recorded.

  5. Tap the upload icon or swipe to the end of the book to send the recording to the teacher.

    • A recording must be at least 30 seconds long for it to appear in the teacher’s In Basket and for the student to earn stars.
