Reading A-Z provides several resources to assist with placing a student at the appropriate reading level. The most popular resources are Benchmark Books or Benchmark Passages.

When using the program for the first time, we recommend starting with a benchmark at the student's age or grade level. Benchmark Books or Benchmark Passages can also be used to determine if a student is ready to progress to the next level.

Use a retelling rubric to assess a student's comprehension based on their retelling of a book or passage.
