To support a more research-based approach to literacy assessment, Benchmark Passages and Running Records have been removed from Raz-Plus.
These changes align with ExploreK12's commitment to providing educators with assessment tools that are more valid, reliable, and grounded in current literacy research.
Why were Benchmark Passages and Running Records removed?
Raz-Plus now includes the Reading Growth Assessment, which provides a more comprehensive measure of a student's overall reading ability.
Unlike Benchmark Passages and Running Records, the Reading Growth Assessment:
Measures students' reading growth against grade-level expectations.
Provides reliable placement recommendations for independent reading.
Offers valid, research-based insights into student performance.
Is administered three times per school year to monitor reading growth over time.
Eliminates the need for one-on-one teacher administration, saving instructional time while providing consistent results.
This transition reflects ExploreK12's strategic vision to deliver assessment tools that better support educators and improve student outcomes.
