Release: January 7, 2026
As part of the retirement of the Speech Recognition (SRE) tool from Foundations A-Z® student practice games and assessments, we identified that open assignments (practice games) containing SRE questions were not automatically updated when the technology was removed.
To ensure consistency and accuracy, a cleanup was included in the January release on January 7, 2026. This update automatically resets any open or in-progress practice games to reflect the updated version without speech recognition questions.
Important: Students will lose any progress made on these practice games if they were in progress prior to the reset.
What Changed
Before January 7, 2026: Practice games that students had opened or started continued to display the outdated version with speech recognition questions.
After January 7, 2026: Open practice games were reset to the updated version, removing speech recognition questions. Completed games are not impacted.
Impact on Teachers and Students
No action is required from teachers. We’ve handled the reset for you.
Reset assignments will still show their original assignment date.
Students will need to restart any affected practice game that was reset.
