What’s New:
The Speech Recognition Tool is being removed from Foundations A-Z. The questions that utilize this tool are being replaced with:
Existing question types, such as multiple choice and drag-and-drop questions targeting phonics, decoding, high-frequency words, and phonological awareness.
New print-based Fluency Assessments that measure Words Correct Per Minute (WCPM), and help teachers monitor growth throughout the year.
Why It Matters:
Updates to the practice games and assessments will provide greater instructional versatility with additional benefits that include:
Streamlined teacher experience—less technical setup and troubleshooting.
Improved progress monitoring—more actionable data to track grade-level fluency targets.
Simplified student experience—no more headsets or microphones, no speech calibration, and fewer technical issues for uninterrupted independent practice.
