Foundations A-Z: Phonics Skill Packs
Updated over a week ago

Phonics Skill Packs are curated instructional and practice resources that focus on target phonics skills. The resources within each pack include digital resources, such as student videos, games, books, and passages, as well as printable/projectable resources, including cards and practice sheets.

The Phonics Skill Pack collections are sequenced from simple to more complex. Teachers can assign the skill packs in the suggested sequence, or select packs using their own scope and sequence as a guide.

  • Organized by Skill: With over 100 packs, each meticulously organized by specific phonics skills, students dive into targeted learning.

  • Instructional and Practice Resources: Each pack combines instructional videos, engaging games, and practice materials.

  • Teacher Assignments: Educators easily assign skill packs tailored to their students’ needs. The Phonics Skill Packs can be used flexibly in whole group, in small groups, or for independent practice to supplement the instruction and resources in your core program or the scope and sequence you are already using.

  • Found in the Side Quest: Packs can be completed in any order, but once a pack is selected, its activities must be tackled sequentially.

Some ideas for using Phonics Skill Packs as supplemental resources include:

  • Introduce or reteach phonics skills in a whole-group setting. Play the Instructional Student Videos to reinforce skills. Immediately after, project the related Interactive Digital Games to check students’ understanding.

  • Use the Decodable Books and Practice Worksheets to differentiate small-group instruction for students who need extra practice with particular phonics skills.

  • Assign digital or Print and Present resources for independent practice, or place resources in literacy centers.
