Students can use the Build-A-Book feature to design their own books. Build-A-Book offers two versions of the tool for different levels of writers. Emerging writers can create single-page compositions with basic text and image editing. Beginning to fluent writers have access to robust tools for text and image editing. The additional search tool allows them to quickly find just the right image for their multi-page compositions.

To access Build-A-Book, log in as a student to Writing A-Z and click the Writing option. Then, click on Build-A-Book. If you have a book in progress, select the name of the book. Otherwise, click New or Begin.

When the teacher has enabled the On Your Own Writing tools, students can initiate compositions with the complexity determined by the Writing Level set in the Roster. You can save up to three drafts for each interactive tool.
