Writer’s Response (Writing)

Updated this week

The previously available Writer’s Response prompts were connected to only a limited number of Learning A–Z texts and often lacked the specificity needed to support deep comprehension. As a result, these prompts have been retired. New, research-informed resources to support Response to Reading are currently in development and are being prioritized for an undetermined future release.

What alternative content in Raz-Plus should customers utilize instead?

  1. Focus Questions in Raz-Plus Books encourage students to think critically about key ideas and themes.

  2. Raz-Plus Text-dependent questions in Raz-Plus Books and Passages promote close reading and evidence-based thinking.

  3. Discussion Cards for Raz-Plus Books support oral or written responses through structured prompts tied to the text.

Note: These resources do not include instruction related to response to reading. However, teachers can have the students respond to these text-based questions via writing. Routines and protocols for response to reading are scheduled for future release.
