Teachers may choose to use the Reading Placement Tool to help place students who are newly rostered on Raz-Plus or Raz-Kids at an appropriate starting point in the product through a series of adaptive reading activities. The Placement Tool takes an average of 20 minutes and places students at one of nine different entry points.

No. The Reading Placement Tool is not an assessment; it is a tool to help students start reading content at an appropriate level of text complexity until the teacher can assess their reading behavior and comprehension through other means. Can the Reading Placement Tool be reassigned to new and existing students?
Yes, navigate to the individual student page on the Student Management site by clicking the student's name on the student roster. Click the tab that says Raz-Plus (or Raz-Kids) and select Reset Reading Level. Resetting a student’s assigned reading level will erase any progress on their Level Up self-paced assignment, and they will be reassigned the Reading Placement Tool.
