Types of Resources on Raz-Plus

Raz-Plus provides a Reading Assignment area as well as several types of assessments.
 
Leveled Books - Developmentally appropriate online fiction and non-fiction leveled books at 29 reading levels. Students will be able to listen to the books for modeled fluency, or read and record so you can check their performance. The Self-Paced Assignment for each level includes a selection of books at that level. Many resources are also available for Custom Assignment or My Assignment.

Assessments - Raz-Plus offers 
Benchmark Books and Benchmark Passages to assess a student’s reading level or progress. Comprehension Quizzes are also available to assess how well a student comprehends their reading and are great resources for text-dependent questions. Teachers can also assign High-Frequency Word Assessments and Alphabet Assessments for additional evaluation.

Leveled Books - In addition to the leveled books available in the Self-Paced Assignment, every Reading A-Z leveled book is available electronically to students through the Reading Room.

Nursery Rhymes - Listening to new twists on traditional nursery rhymes exposes students to a variety of rhyme and rhythm patterns. Repetition helps them identify patterns of sounds, an important phonological awareness skill that leads to greater reading success.
 
Poetry Books - Bolster students' listening and reading fluency skills with professionally developed poetry books that provide opportunities to listen for and practice with pitch, intonation, and inflection. Poems with a story-like beginning, middle, and ending also help students with comprehension skills, such as sequencing events or understanding basic story elements.
 
Song Books - Songs help students understand language's rhyme and rhythm in a similar way to poetry or nursery rhymes. Songs add melody and beat and support students' enjoyment of reading. Encourage students to sing along with the highlighted words in each Song Book karaoke-style.
 
Alphabet Books - Learning to recognize the uppercase and lowercase letters of the alphabet is one of the most important first steps in learning how to read. Alphabet Books help students learn to identify and name each letter of the alphabet.
 
Sound/Symbol Books - Support students’ learning of sound and symbol relationships with books that feature simple pictures with labels and provide reinforcement of important letter-sound correspondence for successful decoding.
 
Decodable Books - Provide practice and support with sounds and their corresponding symbols. After being taught phonics with lessons that are systematically organized, use direct and explicit instruction, provide blending and segmenting practice, and provide word manipulation practice from Reading A-Z, students practice what they learn by listening to and reading the Decodable eBooks available in the Reading Room.
 
High-Frequency Word Books - Prepare students for reading success with three sets of high-frequency word books, featuring the most commonly used words in printed text. High-Frequency Word Books introduce these common words in an easy-to-read format and target words of gradually decreasing frequency.
 
Read-Aloud Books - Target specific sounds with Read-Aloud Books that partner well with any phonics lesson that corresponds to a particular book's target sound. Read-Aloud Books also build critical phonemic awareness skills.

Shared Reading - Build foundational skills important for early readers, including print concepts and reading strategies. Each Shared Reading title has a printable student version and two projectable versions for whole-class activities, as well as a five-day lesson plan.

Graphic Books - Present informational text in an engaging and entertaining format, and appeal to visual learners as well as struggling and reluctant readers. Each Graphic Book pairs with a specific Leveled Book for additional reading.

Close Reading Packs - Students carefully analyze the text of multiple passages and have small-group or whole-class discussions to answer a Key Question.

There are also additional resources available for teachers to print and project, including Content Area Reading, Fluency, Comprehension, Book-Related Resources, Tutoring & Mentoring Packs, and many more.
